National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Eng Nicholas Gumbo has commended former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, following her victorious win.

Waiguru won Jubilee Party gubernatorial ticket in Kirinyaga county, against incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi, despite being linked to the Sh1 billion NYS scam.

PAC has been investigating the scam, as members, led by Gumbo, summoned Waiguru occasionally, for grilling over her involvement in the scam.

Members were vocal in criticising the former CS, saying she was incompetent in office, and that it did not make sense, for such huge amount of money to get lost without Waiguru being aware.

Gumbo's committee later recomemnded that Waiguru should not be allowed to hold any public office, until she is completely cleared of the scam, which saw several Devolution docket officials shown the door, including Principal Secretary, Eng Peter Mangiti.

While appearing on NTV's Sidebar, Wednesday, Gumbo who lost the Siaya gubernatorial ODM ticket to incumbent Cornell Rasanga, said he was a nobody to say no to Waiguru's victory, if Kirinyaga people decided to choose her.

"If Kirinyaga people have decided she should be their governor, who I'm I to say no?'' said the Rarieda MP.

Awiti garnered 143,446 votes against Gumbo who got 87,457 votes.

The National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman has now been left in the cold, but has disputed the poll results, saying he was rigged out, since he led in the number of votes.
