On Sunday, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko attacked key leaders in Jubilee Party and the State House for creating barriers in his quest to become the city senator.

Among the names that Sonko named included Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and current Vice chairman of the Jubilee Party Stanley Murathe.

"I will not allow any nonsense but the PS interior Kibicho I don't care, former Gatanga MP Murathe this are the people spearheading this chewing gum (Peter Kenneth) project," he said.

He blamed the two of trying to rig the party's nomination on behalf of Kenneth and warned that he will deal with them.

On Monday night President Uhuru Kenyatta responded to Sonko's claims while appearing on a live interview on Citizen Nipashe.

When the president was asked if he had a hand in the frustrations of Sonko's nomination debacle he distanced himself from it.

"I think on that matter you should ask the senator himself," he said

The Head of State, however, said he was ready to come into the matter as an independent arbitrator.

"As I have said I am available to be an independent and honest broker to bring people together, but if they decide they will fight it out to the ballot then that is their right and I will not support any side of the divide," he added.

"The only thing I have requested is that the people should elect for me a Jubilee candidate but I won't force their choice," he added.
