The opposition has been criticized for making inflammatory remarks on the president concerning the recently unearthed Afya House scandal where an alleged sum of Sh 5 b was embezzled.
Speaking in Machakos Town constituency on Sunday October 30, the legislators asked the opposition to steer clear of the president's path.
Led by Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti, the legislators said it was unfair to link President Uhuru Kenyatta with the alleged scam because he was not the independent institution to deal with graft.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta is executing duties as they head of state. He should not be dragged into the scam. Such issues should be dealt with by independent bodies like EACC, Attorney General chambers and others," said Kivuti.
This sentiments were echoed by other legislators like Meru MP Florence Kajuju, Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka, Ol Joro Orok MP John Wainganjo and Masinga constituency MP Benson Mbai who all rubbished calls for the resignation of President Kenyatta.
They said Cord's antics will not win them votes come 2017 elections and should use other strategies instead.
