[Photo: Citizen Digital]Under a certificate of urgency, the Attorney General has asked the High Court to suspend orders restraining the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU) from publishing any adverts on government achievements.The AG has said the directive has disrupted the functional existence of the PDU and that the order was granted without disclosure that the issue of government adverts is subject to two petitions pending before the same judge.In affidavits signed by PDU's Andrew Wakahiu, the AG has said the temporary orders negate the public's right to be informed on important information affecting the state as is required of the government, reports the Star.of the government, reports the Star.of the government, reports the Star.of the government, reports the Star.Wakahiu said the PDU is mandated to report to the public on the timely fulfilment of the government's key development programmes.fulfilment of the government's key development programmes.Early this year, lawyer Apollo Mboya filed a case similar to the recent one by Katiba Institute, seeking to stop the PDU from advertising the government's achievements.Judge Chacha Mwita granted the order in the Katiba Institute case early this month, which is seeking information on how much the State had spent on adverts in the run-up to the August 8 General Election.The court stopped the PDU, through Head of Civil Service James Kinyua Wakahiu and Nzioka Waita, from publishing the adverts dubbed as #GoKDelivers on print, electronic media or public hoardings until mid-November, when the case is due for hearing, adds the Star.In their petition, the human rights group said it needs the information to know whether it was necessary to spend public funds on government adverts and establish whether the electoral laws had been breached.
