Good news as the Aga Khan University Hospital on Friday boosted the Beyond Zero Initiative by donating a fully kitted mobile clinic.
The clinic was received by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.
The latest development comes in the backdrop of only a day when a similar unit was handed over by the First Lady to Garissa County on Thursday to mark the 39th county to benefit from the First lady’s initiative.
The Aga Khan University Hospital CEO, Shawn Bolouki, who presented the Donation, noted that the institution was proud to be associated with the Beyond Zero initiative in its journey to reduce maternal and child deaths across the country.
The donation comes in the wake of release of Kenya Countdown Report: Understanding the Past to Impact the Future in Ending Preventable Maternal, Newborn and Child Deaths, an event that was graced by the First Lady alongside the Aga Khan group. However, the First Lady observed that the Beyond Zero initiative is firmly on course with only eight more mobile clinics remaining to be handed over to an equal number of counties.
According to State House, the Public Relations Officer, Eunice Mwangi and the Corporate Relations Director, Pauline Ngatia from the Aga Khan University Hospital team were present.
