Residents of Kwa Makaa trading center in Yatta sub-county have asked the National Transport and Safety Authority, NTSA to erect bumps on the Thika - Maturu - Garissa Highway to curb accidents.

This comes after two pedestrians sustained injuries after they were hit on the road by a speeding vehicle on Sunday evening.

3 passengers were killed in an accident last week along the highway.

Kithimani ward rep Francis Kioko said lack of bumps has promoted speeding on the road resulting in accidents.

"Bumps will ensure the drivers drive at a reasonable and recommended speed. We can't continue losing lives each and every time through accidents. NTSA should act immediately and erect bumps," said Kioko.

The MCA urged residents to be careful when walking on the road.

"Pedestrians when walking on the road should be more careful because careless driving over speeding may hit them as we wait for NTSA to put slow bumps," he added.
