Kenyans in North Eastern region have been victim of police brutality and enforced disappearances without action being taken, residents have said.
The residents said opening of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority regional office in Garissa is long overdue.
They expressed confidence that the IPOA will serve residents better and stop police brutality and reduces cases of residents' disappearances.
Independent Policing Oversight Authority opened regional offices in Garissa last week.
The offices will serve Garissa, Tana River, Mandera, Wajir, Kitui, Marsabit and Isiolo counties.
IPOA vice chair Jedidah Ntoyai urged residents to make use of the office by reporting cases and give recommendations for officers who should be rewarded for good performance.
She said women are shying away from reporting cases to IPOA.
