About 29,540 children between six months and five years will be beneficiaries of a supplementary feeding plan in Isiolo County as drought bites.
The National Drought Management Authority, NDMA chief Lordman Lekalkuli said the project will be funded by the government and the World Food Program.
"Due to prolonged drought in the region children will benefit from the feeding program to reduce deaths among children that may be caused due to food shortage," Lekalkuli said.
Lekalkuli said the program also targets 7,780 lactating and pregnant women in the county.
Isiolo county is among the counties in the Northern Kenya that has been worst hit by drought due to lack of rains.
Herders in the region have been forced to move from place to place in search of green pastures and water for their livestock.
