Senator Agnes Zani has been named as the acting secretary general for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

This comes after the resignation of Ababu Namwamba as the secretary general for ODM.

Namwamba claimed that he was not given powers as the secretary general to serve in the position.

Zani will replace him as ODM has planned political rallies in the Western region from next week.

Currently, ODM members are holding a party meeting at Orange House in Nairobi.
