Households in Kisii county that rely on kerosene for their daily lighting and cooking will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets after the products shot up by Sh5.05 per litter.
According to the latest price released by industry's Energy Regulatory Commission on Tuesday the effect will be now effective in a days time.
This is a blow to many rural residents who depend on kerosene for lighting and many other urban residents who use it for cooking.
The commission, however, said that the increase in price was attributed to the depreciation of the Kenya shilling globally.
The commission, however, said once the price goes down for the product they will also review the prices.
The petrol users, however, were not badly affected as it was increased by Sh1.03.
