The National Assembly's Committee on Agriculture has appreciated Uasin Gishu County for rolling out "serious plans in agriculture."
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has several Agricultural projects running, including Inua Mama na Kuku, Kijana na Acre and subsidization of AI services and fertilizer.
While on a courtesy call to Governor Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago's office, the committee said Uasin Gishu County leadership has done very well in the sector.
The Committee chair and MP for Mandera North Hon Abdi Noor, thanked the County's leadership.
He said the efforts made by the County so far are exemplary and help in attainment of food security.
Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua, also a member of the Committee, offered her congratulatory message to the County.
Governor Mandago thanked the Committee for finding time to tour the North Rift and listen to pertinent issues affecting farmers.
He also asked the Committee to see to it that New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) is given to farmers. It was formed as a farmers' cooperative, so it needs to be reverted back to them, he said.
The County Chief also asked the Committee to patiently hear the farmers, adding that they are doing a great job of feeding the nation.
Some of the Committee members who were in attendance are Honourables Silas Tiren (Moiben), Hon Elisha Kipkorir Busienei(Turbo),Simba Arati (Dagoreti North),John Serut (Mt Elgon),Kareke Mbiuki (Maara Nithi), Benjamin Washiali (Busia), James Bett (Kesses), Hon. Ferdinand Wanyonyi for MP Kwanza Constituency, among others.
After visiting the Eldoret New KCC factory, the Committee later had a meeting with farmers at the County Hall. They proceed to Kitale on Tuesday morning.
