Speaking in Nakuru on Tuesday when he visited the Nakuru County government, the PS said the Jubilee government has set aside funds to promote agriculture.

Tuimur said food security is a vital goal for the Jubilee government and several multi-faceted approaches will be applied to ensure the sector produces enough for the nation.

“We are moving from just farming to profitable farming so that farmers can benefit too,” Tuimur said.

The PS said the government wants farmers to engage in modern farming which is more beneficial.

The PS was speaking after a courtesy call to Nakuru Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto. Ruto hailed the national government for its support to Nakuru farmers.

“We have seen several others support you have given us including the anthrax vaccine that we used during the outbreak within the park last year and we are hoping to further our partnership. We shall be able to tackle the challenges we face in the agricultural sector through this unity,” Ruto said.
