Ahadi Kenya has said that starving residents in the expansive north eastern region do not need cash from the national government but need food.

Through its Chief Executive officer, Stanley Kamau, the NGO issued that the government should increase food rations to hunger-stricken families and do away with the cash transfers since the monies do not reach the deserving households.

“The Jubilee government just needs to do away with the cash transfers and come up with more convenient programmes where those who are hard hit by hunger are assisted directly without going through many tiresome bridges,”  said the CEO.

“Most remote areas have very poor network connectivity. Most of the affected families cannot even afford a cell phone to communicate. This, therefore, makes it more difficult in such scenarios. In light of this, it is very important to visit all the affected homes and assist them directly by giving food rations," he added.

Ahadi Kenya was speaking after he donated food rations to one Mzee Hassan Ahmed’s hunger-stricken family in Modogashe, Garissa county. Hassan and wife had one week-old triplets, a thing that necessitated the visit by Ahadi Kenya CEO.
