Ahadi Kenya Trust CEO Stanley Kamau has lauded the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews, noting that it will save many young people who had been lured into drinking.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua on Friday, the Ahadi Trust boss said that alcohol abuse had ‘trapped’ many young people who spend their time and money drinking.

He said that once the crackdown is completed, there would be a change in the lives of many youths.

Kamau praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the directive on illicit brew crackdown, saying it was timely.

He said that his organisation has partnered with several county governments to help counsel and rehabilitate addicts.

He said that thousands of addicts are suffering from withdrawals and need help.

“We are working with several county governments mostly in Central Kenya to help alcohol addicts who are suffering from withdrawals,” he said.

The Ahadi CEO asked the government to come up with stiffer penalties and regulations to guard against illegal brewing.

He said that the youthful population across the country will be saved if the government gets rid of alcohol and illegal brews.
