Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has disagreed with the government’s approach in the crackdown on opposition MPs and politicians days after NASA leader Raila Odinga was sworn in as the people's president.According to Ahmednasir who represented President Uhuru Kenyatta in the presidential election petition, arresting opposition politicians is not the most effective way to deal with the issue. The lawyer instead asked the State to expedite the prosecution process that will lead to the subsequent conviction of such politicians."The government of Kenya is quick to arrest rogue opposition MPs and arraign them in court. That isn't the solution for breaking the law. Only a robust and expeditious prosecution and subsequent conviction will change this wayward behaviour," Ahmednassir said in a post on his Twitter handle. At least three NASA politicians have been arrested in the last week with former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna being the latest. Dr Miguna has been in the police cells since Friday last week. Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang was arrested on Wednesday and charged with administering an illegal oath. The MP was released on a Sh50,000 cash bail pending his plea on Tuesday. His Makadara MP George Aladwa was arrested on Saturday but later released him on a free police bond.
