A famous city lawyer, Abdullahi Ahmednassir has publicly criticised the opposition coalition for their botched attempts to eject IEBC commissioners from office on Monday.
In his Twitter and Facebook updates, the celebrated lawyer accused Raila Odinga and his coalition supporters of using unorthodox means to voice out their concerns.
Ahmednassir referred to Cord as a bunch of hooligans who are oblivious of the provisions of the Kenyan constitution. The lawyer also explained that the IEBC commissioners can and will never be ousted from office in a politically instigated demonstration but rather by an amendment by legislators. He notes that the electoral body was constitutionally constituted and its removal of Cord will follow the same way.
The lawyer termed the action by Cord was foolish and notorious, arguing that the opposition had sensed defeat ahead of the 2017 elections.
In their demands, the opposition is agitating for the disbandment of IEBC claiming that it can never overlook the forthcoming general elections.
