The AIC Kikuyu Church was on Monday night brought down by unknown people in what is believed to be as a result of a land dispute.
According to the Church committee and faithfuls they bought the land on which the church is built on in a transparent manner.
“We bought this land in the year 2004 from the owner at an agreed price of Sh360,000 which we have fully settled,” said Jamleck Mwangi, a committe member.
"We started to build the church two years later and this is where we have been since then,” he added.
They said that the former land owner has refused to transfer the land ownership to them and now wants to resell the land at a higher price.
Mwangi confirmed that they have already reported the matter to Kikuyu Police Station for appropriate action.
"We have nowhere to worship now and we want the government to intervene and help us solve this matter", Nancy Wairimu, a faithful said.
They now believe that the former owner of the plot is behind the demolition as they recently took him to court to demand for the title deed.
