This came after Finland Church Aid, an aid group, on Monday visited Wajir county with an aim of conducting a study on gums and resins in the region.

The group then met governor Mohamed Abdi, who welcomed them saying this will improve the lives of many of the locals.

Abdi further added that the county is among the highest producers of gums and resins in Kenya.

"My administration is in full support of the study. Any necessary support will be offered since the move will help improve lives of many locals in the county," said the governor.

He said construction of a gum processing plant is ongoing at Lanbiib.

"More jobs will be created at the plant once it starts operating. Any investor intending to invest in the county is free to do so as this will boost the economy in the county," added Governor Abdi.
