This woman, Careen Chepchumba Kili, who worked at the Kenya Power in the IT and Telecommunications Department was found dead in her house in Nairobi. She had allegedly been murdered.

According to owaahh.com, the 26-year-old engineer had not reported to work at 8am on February 13 and had instead called her colleague and said she would be in by 11am. But she never made it.

The blog reports that someone raped or had consensual sex with her between 8am and noon of February 13. He then strangled her to death before covering her up neatly and walking out undetected.

In all this, former TV personality Louis Otieno has been accused of coercing Chepchumba to borrow hefty amounts of money to finance his lifestyle.

Hosea Kili, Chepchumba's father, on Monday the court that his daughter incurred a Sh3 million debt which she spent on Otieno's rent and medical expenses at Nairobi Hospital and in South Africa.

Kili told the court that his daughter also bought Otieno a Range Rover after trading in her VW car. Before she died, Chepchumba had allegedly sought restraining orders against Otieno for allegedly harassing and threatening her.

Otieno is said to have moved into Kili’s apartment block as a tenant in 2011 and started an affair with the daughter and that is when trouble began.

Kili added that afterwards, Chepchumba started stealing money from him which was very strange since she never did so.

She later took Sh600,000 from her father's briefcase and when confronted, Chepchumba said that she had given Sh400,000 to Otieno for his medical expenses.

"She was deep in debt. The money was taken from family friends and people whom she had entered into business with but she never paid," he was quoted by The Star.

On February 6, a week before she was found dead, she wrote a letter saying she was remorseful about her actions and falling in love with a manipulative man.

On February 12, 2012 which was a Sunday, Kili gathered all the people his daughter owed and that is when she revealed she had bought a Ranger Rover KBQ 122S for Otieno after paying cash and trading in her VW car.

In the meeting, she agreed on a way to pay part of the money and her father would promise to pay the rest.

"She further promised to go to the DCIO Kilimani the following morning to report the case of being extorted and harassed by Otieno who kept calling her on the night of the meeting. Her brother dropped her off at her apartment. That was the last time we saw her alive as she was found dead in her bed on Tuesday morning," Kili said.

The family had tried to reach her in vain before her lifeless body was found and Kili said he suspected foul play and called in the police to investigate her death.

The autopsy report showed that Chepchumba had been strangled.

Otieno’s lawyer says his client is unwell but is expected to testify on the next hearing date if he presents himself.
