The news that Airtel talent search is back in Kenya has sparked a wave of excitement among the music loving and gifted Kibera artists.
The communications service provider on Tuesday made the big announcement that the second edition of the Airtel Trace Music star is back with revamped flavour.
Airtel's move is to attract artists from slum areas, most of who have talents in the field of entertainment but lack the necessary avenues for exposure.
East Africa, and specifically Kenya, has been considered as the breeding ground for music artists both in the gospel and the secular field. Though the winner is the only one that is rewarded, featuring in the competition is a big achievement given the rigorous auditions that take place at the ground level before proceeding to compete live on stage.
In the season of the Airtel Trace challenge, Kenya was proudly represented by Benjamin Webi who won the music award and went further to represent the country in an international level. Season two edition will have the event judges being Wyre, Atemi Carol and Adwar Chris. The judges will vet the Kenyan talents and the successful stars shall have a chance to compete with participants from nine other African countries.
