Firebrand Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa who is eying the Malindi parliamentary seat has been cleared by IEBC to participate in the August elections.
A diehard supporter of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Jumwa is running on an ODM ticket after humiliating Willy Mtengo, incumbent MP, in the party nominations.While addressing her supporters after being issued with the certificate, the fiery politician promised to conduct peaceful nominations and exuded confidence in winning the seat.Also given the green light to run is Jubilee party's Philip Charo who made his political debut during the 2016 by-elections which he eventually lost to Mtengo.Charo is confident that he will win the seat this time round and warned Jumwa to brace for a tough contest.Mtengo who has since ditched ODM after losing in the primaries to run as an independent is expected to be cleared on Friday and set the stage for a titanic battle which is seen as a three-horse race.
