Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has dismissed leaders objected to the push for the secession of the Coast region.According to Jumwa, the campaign for self-rule, which is being spearheaded by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, will only come to an end if NASA leader Raila Odinga takes oath of office. She argued that residents from the Coast region have suffered from electoral and historical injustices, adding that its leaders are no longer ready to support the current regime. Jumwa was speaking during an award ceremony for top KCPE candidates at her Kakuyuni home in Malindi on Thursday. The outspoken MP also accused Jubilee of taking advantage of their numbers to pass laws that do not favour all Kenyans.“When one party single-handedly runs the Parliament and Senate like their own house, citizens have a right to directly exercise their democratic powers as enshrined in the Constitution,” said Jumwa, as quoted by the Nation.Joho and Kingi have maintained that their push for secession is unstoppable. The duo has defied calls from foreign envoys and other interested groups to drop the debate for self-determination.Jumwa at the same time defended her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori over the remarks he made in relation to parliamentary nominations.Dori accused NASA of sidelining Coast leaders while sharing slots in the parliamentary leadership as well as nominations to the East AfricanLegislative Assembly (EALA) and even threatened to ditch the opposition coalition. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
