Malindi Town MP Aisha Jumwa has urged Coast residents and politicians to remain united ahead of the 2022 general election.

Jumwa says that unity is what will define Coast’s political relevance in regards to 2022.

Speaking in Malindi on Monday, the ODM legislator said that the region has to stand firm and shun political brokers who have often used the region to ascend to power.

She said that Coast politicians have the key to the region’s political success.

“It is time we stopped complaining, lamenting and crying for being left of government, we have the numbers to be part of the government,” she said.

The MP who has since declared support for Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 general election, asked Coast top politicians to unite the region.

“I am pleading with my brother Hassan Joho (Governor Mombasa), Amason Kingi (Governor Kilifi) and others to give priority on uniting Coast," she said.

She asked governor Joho to use his numbers and bring people together ahead of the 2022 polls.

Jumwa shocked many when she declared support DP Ruto.

She said that an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped.

Coast region is considered opposition stronghold but with the recent political dynamics, Jubilee seems to be gaining root in the region ahead of the 2022 polls.

A section of the region politician's led by Kwale governor Salim Mvurya has declared full support for DP Ruto in 2022.
