Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has promised to pay fees for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) top performers in her constituency. Jumwa has already directed education officials in Malindi to draft a list of all students who excelled in their KCPE exam so that they can be awarded scholarships.The vocal lawmaker said she plans to give priority to students who scored over 350 marks when it comes to the allocation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries. Speaking during a party at her residence in Kakuyuni for the 250 students who scored over 350 marks, Jumwa said she is committed to improving the standards of education in the constituency, by supporting needy students."My vision is to assist all the candidates to achieve their dreams of attaining high school education," she said, as quoted by The Star.She also said that she will support the students until they complete their secondary education, adding that the region’s brilliant students have been dropping out of school due to lack of fees to pursue their studies."I promise to support the bright students from this constituency until they complete form four," the MP said.
