Akaranga, who pulled a surprise in 2002 when he defeated the then Vice President Musalia Mudavadi for the Sabatia parliamentary seat, is however, facing an uphill task to defend the much-coveted seat with Vihiga MP Yusuf Chanzu and Emuhaya's Wilbur Otitchilo staging a mutiny against him.

Enos Butiko who lost to him by a margin of just 3000 voters in the 2013 elections will once again try his luck against a man who is viewed by many as a political schemer.

According to Akaranga, he is satisfied with his development record and hopes to defend the seat easily.

"Many people are out to soil my name, attacking to take the Governor's post from me. They have already launched campaigns but I am not worried because God will always hand me victory and shame," said the 63-year old.
