A day after resignation of three IEBC officials, pressure to have commission's chairman Wafula Chebukati has continued to upsurge.

Commissioners Margaret Mwachanya, Connie Maina and Paul Kurgat quit in what they termed as 'lack of leadership' by the chairperson.

"The chairman has refused to offer leadership then rendering working in the commission difficult," they said.

Apparently, their resignation has not attracted serious reactions from political leadership like when Roselyn Akombe resigned.

But to end the impasse, a section of MCAs from Nyamira now wants Ms Akombe to replace Chebukati in the commission.

"Akombe showed the rot in the system and as a woman of ethics, she bowed out of office. It is time to recall her to take charge," said George Morara, MCA for Bogichora.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Kemera MCA George Nyachae who said the commission should be disbanded and pay way for people with integrity.

"The resignation now vindicates Akombe. Most of those commissioners are either incompetent or puppets of the executive. It is time perhaps to recall Akombe to instill discipline," he said.

Moments to October repeat polls, Akombe quit office citing external interference and lack of independence in the commission.

Her resignation caused anxiety within warring political parties with Raila Odinga calling for total overhaul of the commission.
