Ex – IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has taken a swipe on President Donald Trump’s administration for allegedly backing ‘deeply flawed’ Kenyan electoral process.

In unprecedented move on Tuesday, Akombe bowed out of the commission over what she termed as ‘external interference’ by politicians and persistent death threats directed to her.

“It is a complex process where you have international community supporting the entire process without questioning any part,” she said on Wednesday, at an interview with America’s NPR Radio.

She further said: “In other countries where I have worked, the international community should have been the first to raise these concerns.”

Apparently, the international community through US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec, has already given October 26th a clean bill of health, despite complaints from Raila Odinga’s opposition coalition, NASA.

On the credibility of the October polls, Akombe said, the international community has failed to assess and tell the world about the environment in which Kenyan elections will be held.

“You have not heard anybody from the international community explain whether we have environment that will lead us to free, fair and credible polls.”
