Weeks after dramatically announcing her resignation after fleeing the country, the spectre of Dr Akombe has come back to haunt the IEBC.
Petitioners, Njonjo Mue and Khelif Khalifa challenging the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta want the apex court to order the release of Dr Akombe's memos before her high profile resignation.
Through their lawyer, Julie Soweto, they argued that there was compelling evidence of manipulation and it is only through the scrutiny of the memos that Kenyans could know what really transpired on October 26.
She further contended that the substantive issues raised by Akombe had been confirmed by the IEBC chairman himself, Wafula Chebukati.
''Issues raised in the memo by Dr Roselyn Akombe after she resigned is vital in the interest of justice that the parties should be allowed to access the deliberations of the IEBC and particularly on issues that were publicly admitted by the commission,” Soweto argued, according to a report by the Daily Nation.
