Taveta Member of Parliament Naomi Shaban has condemned the move by the IEBC commissioner Roselyne Akombe to resign days to the fresh election.

Akombe on Wednesday announced her resignation blaming her decision on a divided commission she said was incapable of overseeing a credible poll set for October 26.

"The commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on October 26, 2017. I don't want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity," Akombe remarked.

Speaking in Taveta Town, Shaban termed the resignation an act of betrayal to women in the country.

"The commissioner does not care about Kenya since she has dual citizenship. She should not have applied for the job if she knew she would resign," she said, as quoted by The Standard.
