Former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe may have after all played mind games with fellow commissioners and the country at large, as a scheme to sneak out.
In yet another unprecedented move, Akombe resigned from the commission citing threats to her security from unknown people and coercion from external forces to the commission.
But her exit from scene was long overdue given that she made such attempts moments after August 8th elections but was detained by government officials at JKIA.
“It is not news given that she wanted to run away. She also cited death threats on her family,” says lawyer Moseti Moseti.
Moseti further says:” Actually, the nullification of results by Supreme Court may have compelled her to plot to move out.”
And despite the rifts within the commission, Akombe played mind games making perhaps her ‘oppressors’ believe that all was well even making it clear that elections will take place on October 26th.
She is further said to have Persuaded Chebukati to include her to be among the people to inspect printing of ballot papers in Dubai, a move that helped her sneak out of the country.
Even though it is not clear how she managed to connect a direct flight to US, it is however clear that she played psychology with the country people believe that all was well, only to condemn the commission from outside the country.
