Flamboyant and wealthy singer Akothee was granted a heroic welcome when she jetted back into the county after bagging the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) held in the United States of America.
The songstress beat other competitors from the continent to emerge the winner in the awards which are conducted as a show of unity, self sufficiency and willingness of the African musicians to embrace change.
The “Give It To Me” singer could not hide her joy when she landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday to find a section of her fans who had camped at the airport to receive their hero.
She was later driven off in a convoy that included a white limo with the words “Akothee” and “Madam Boss” written at the front and back respectively.
The singer thanked her fans for their overwhelming support.
“I broke down in tears when I saw my fans, family and a women group had come to receive me at the airport,” said Akothee, as quoted by Tuko.
“I am lucky to have loyal fans and such a supportive family. I'm deeply touched. I couldn't believe that the women's group I'm supporting in the village came to receive me,” she added.
