African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) winner Akothee has touched the hearts of many Kenyans on social media after she shared her epic escape from early marriage.

Akothee said her 10 years in marriage was nothing but hurt and pain.

She said the hard times she went through forced her to reconsider going back to school.

In an emotional post on her Facebook account, the Mombasa-based singer narrated how she decided to stand up and fight for her life.

Akothee went on to attach a photograph of her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in which she scored a C+.

The Yuko Moyoni hit maker recalled how she opted to drop out of school at the age of 14 to get married.

By the time Akothee was 20 years old, she already had three children. However, she went back to Wasio Mixed Secondary school and scored a C+.
