With the country set to go to the polls this Thursday, the last consignment of voting materials is set to arrive later today, Tuesday.

According to IEBC, the batch of 166 pallets for 14 counties which also consists of stamps, pens, inks and sisal twines will arrive in the country at around 6 pm.

The first of the papers, which were mainly for far flung counties, arrived in the country on Saturday on board an Etihad plane.

Some of the 10 counties are Marsabit, Wajir, Isiolo, Mandera, Garissa, Samburu, Turkana   and Laikipia.

The IEBC, which was on the spot for sloppiness in the bungled August 8 elections, has said the papers have been enhanced to guard against forgeries.

The Dubai-based Al Ghurair firm, which printed papers for the August polls, has once again printed this election’s papers, despite NASA fighting the move.

The country is grappling with the current political environment, with NASA and Jubilee Parties holding on to their strong stances.

NASA leader Raila Odinga withdrew from the race, saying the ground is not level for a fair elction.

He has consequently asked his supporters to stay away from polling stations on Thursday, and will make a major announcement tomorrow, Wednesday.
