The Al-Shabaab terror group has finally confirmed the death of its top commander, Mohamed Kuno alias Gamadere.
This comes weeks after he was fiercely repulsed and shot dead by Somalia's Special Forces near Kismayu town.
In a statement delivered via Pro – Al-Shabaab media on Thursday, the group said it is celebrating the life of the slain commander who is widely believed to be the face behind the deadly April 2, 2015, Garissa University College attack.
Gamadere was born in the North Eastern town of Garissa in the year 1966 where he proceeded to Sudan to study Shariah before joining the Jihadi militias in the early nineties according to a statement released by the militants.
The group further said that the killing of its top most leadership would never deter them from fighting their enemies but will instead serve to boost their morale.
Kuno Gamadere was killed in a skilfully executed operation on June 1, this year as he left Bula Gaduud town, near Kismayu the Jubba land headquarters.
