Security agencies have issued a stern warning to individuals collaborating with terrorists, saying anyone found culpable will face arrest and prosecution.Boni Enclave Campaign Director Joseph Kanyiri has warned that all al-Shabaab sympathizers within the Boni Enclave Campaign areas in Garissa, Lamu and Tana River Counties will face dire consequences.Kanyiri said anyone who will be arrested by authorities will be treated like terrorists since they share similar beliefs with the militants.“We are aware of the fact that some locals are working with the al-Shabaab. They give them information about our movements, feed them and even house them in their homes,” said Kanyiri.“Why on earth would someone allow such a person to even sleep in your house unless of course you share common beliefs and that’s why such people shall be treated just like the al-Shabaab themselves,” he added. The director called for collaborated efforts from the county government and the community to combat rising cases of youth radicalization in the country. He urged residents to collaborate with security agencies in the fighting against al-Shabaab and their sympathizers.Kanyiri decried lack of total cooperation and discretion among residents in areas neighbouring the operation zones, saying the move was slowing down the war on terrorism.
