The Al-Shabaab militia group is said to have started recruiting youths from Western Kenya.
The group is targeting to recruit more people from Nyanza and Rift Valley as well.
The intelligence report has warned that the western part has become the new recruitment frontier. The government, on the other side, has started taking measures to combat this exercise by beefing up security in the said places to combat terrorism.
Recently, the police service recruited 10,000 police following an order issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta. According to him, the country needs to boost its security so that it can keep Kenyans safe.
According to the intelligent report from the National Intelligence Service (NIS), the militia group has added Rift valley, Western and Nyanza to the notorious list as opposed to North Eastern and Mombasa places where they recruit youths to join the militia group. The youths are then trained before being commissioned to carry out terror activities in the country.
The report also indicates that the al-Qaeda group, which in the past consisted of foreigners, is now populated with local Kenyans.
