Makadara MP-elect George Aladwa has lauded Nairobi residents for the support they gave him and the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
It is through such support, noted Aladwa, that Raila garnered the highest number of votes in Nairobi in last Tuesday’s general election.
With regard to constituency matters, the MP-elect said he will serve everyone regardless of their party affiliations.
“I want to thank the people of Makadara, those who voted for me and those who voted for my opponent. I am now their member of Parliament and I pledge to serve all of them equally,” he told the Star on Sunday.
The former Nairobi mayor said he will ensure he fulfills his campaign promises.
Among the issues in his in-tray include the construction of markets to help small traders as well as ensuring that all needy students access bursaries to complete their studies.
Others include improving roads, schools, health facilities as well uniting residents after the hotly contested polls.
“We'll focus our priority on the children who can’t go to school due to lack of fees. We will help our young mothers, we will build markets for them to ensure they are comfortable and conduct their businesses without interruptions,” said the ODM Nairobi branch chair.
Aladwa got 45, 516 votes while his callenger, Benson Mutura of Jubilee Party garnered 41, 125 in the elections.
