A renowned local blogger has expressed disappointment and anger following the appointment of former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo as the chairperson of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) board.
Robert Alai scorned off the appointment and termed the move by President Uhuru Kenyatta to put Kimaiyo at the helm of KNH as an 'insult' to Kenyans.
Through his Twitter handle, the blogger termed the former IG as 'incompetent' and therefore unfit to head the country's biggest referral facility.
"Appointment of Kimaiyo as the Chairman of KNH is the biggest insult to Kenyans. We can't appreciate this," he tweeted.
Alai added: "President Uhuru, you fired Kimaiyo from Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) . What makes you think that he can now be a better performer as KNH boss? Kindly know that some of these things are HUGELY INSULTING."
Kimaiyo was appointed the Non-Executive Chairperson of Kenyatta National Hospital by the Head of State in a Kenya Gazette notice of 6th April 2018.
The Kenya's first Inspector General of Police will serve until March 17, 2019.
The blogger accused Kimaiyo of overseeing corruption in the National Police Service during his tenure as police boss, adding that he would 'kill' KNH.
"The man is too incompetent and fears anyone giving him new ideas. He is going to kill the public health provider completely," he claimed.
Alai, who last year received Head of State Commendation (HSC) from President Kenyatta, further linked Kimaiyo's appointment to ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Kenyatta and Odinga recently buried the hatchet and resolved to work together towards uniting Kenyans.
"Raila is a known enthusiastic supporter of Kimaiyo who even endorsed his Senate bid and bragged how he vouched for his appointment. So I must link Raila to this Kimaiyo mess," he stated.
In 2017 General Election, Kimaiyo vied for Elgeyo Marakwet senate seat on KANU ticket but lost to the incumbent Kipchumba Murkomen of Jubilee Party.
