Through his Facebook page on Monday, Alai said it is a recipe for ethnic clashes in the country.

The youths were protesting the torching of a lorry in Kitui on February 8 for transporting charcoal from Mwingi to Nairobi.

According to Alai, travellers along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway have nothing to do with issues in Kitui and he has called on those aggrieved to use courts and law enforcers to solve the issue.

"Nairobi-Nakuru road blocked, tyres deflated by people protesting the burning of a lorry in Kitui. Kwani what has Nairobi-Nakuru road travellers got to do with Kitui issues? People need to be serious, This is how ethnic clashes start. Use the courts and law enforcers," posted Alai.

The lorry torched in Kitui was after the area Governor Charity Ngilu allegedly called on locals to torch any lorry transporting charcoal or sand from the area.

Ngilu has however denied giving out such orders.

The police have however managed to handle the incident and help ease the flow of traffic along the highway.
