The ODM deputy party leader who has declared interest in the top seat come 2022, recently vowed to lead the opposition camp in gathering votes for the former prime minister ahead of the 2017 polls.

This, however, has been criticized by renowned blogger Robert Alai, who argued that the Kenyan presidency as explained in the Constitution is a 10-year-term, thus if Raila clinches the most powerful seat in the country, then Joho’s 2022 presidential bid is a far-fetched dream.

“How do you campaign for Raila’s election in 2017 but tell Ruto that 2022 “will be a battle royale”? Are you campaigning to fall? Or are you positioning Raila to be a one-term president? Is your sixth sense telling you that your campaign is all in vain?” wrote Alai on his Facebook page.

“You don’t trust that Raila will win? Are you campaigning for Raila to win the presidency or you are positioning yourselves for 2022 but using Raila as your launch pad?

“Let’s be serious guys. I think that we need to strategise and have our house in order. ODM is not winning 2017 elections like this. We have to be honest with each other. Elections are not won with rally attendance,” he added.
