Hours after the Naivasha-based settler Tom Cholmondeley died at the Nairobi MP Shah Hospital, Kenyans took to the social media to post mixed reactions.

A good number condoled with the family, regretting how bad a reaper death was.

Nana1964 said:

“Pole to the parents for losing their only child.”

Esau Maina joined the mourners and said:

"May the Lord rest his soul in eternal peace."

Kwessi Pratt via the Star said:

"We all must learn to LOVE our enemies as the Holy Bible commands. There is no need to scandalize a man who has gone to meet his maker. R I P brother Tom."

However, others did not have kind words for the departed.

Ndũng'ũ wa Ndegwa said:

"Be fearful and revere the Almighty God. It is always a matter of time before he avenges. This character shot and killed our brothers. Perhaps because he assumed they were lowly. Now he too has met his destiny. I love nature."

Daudi Nyangaresi said:

"Is this moron who shot somebody and said he saw monkey? Kama ni yeye, good riddance! Somebody should separate the head from the trunk to make sure he is not tricking us."

Silas Gisiora Nyanchwani on Facebook said:

"Death is a great equalizer. Very neutral arbitrator."

Political blogger and activist Robert Alai would then join the discussion from a different angle, preferring to mention the victims in the two cases the deceased was accused of murder. On his @RobertAlai twitter handle, he said:

"Tom Cholmondeley killed Robert Njoya and Samson Ole Sisina. Reading the media reports, you don't see his victims mentioned. Callous!!!"

Ali Ali on Kenya-today said:

"Cholmondeley, 48, was the son of colonial land grabber ‘Lord Delamere’; who annexed swathes of acres in Nakuru County, displacing poor Africans in the early years of Kenya under the British monarchy. The Kenyan state should take over the land his ancestors stole from the natives."
