Blogger Robert Alai has weighed in on Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and his Sonko Rescue Team saying there is an impending time bomb in the city.

According to Alai, the Rescue team posses a threat to governor Sonko's leadership citing that parallel systems of governance are seen as a threat to state institutions.

On the contrary however, Alai suggests that the Sonko Rescue team should be disbanded or give those in the team alternative employment in existing governance structures.

"Sonko Rescue team is the biggest threat to governor Mike Sonko's leadership. Governments all over the world fear parallel systems which are seen to compete with state institutions. Sonko should disband the Sonko Rescue team or give them employment under the existing structures," posted Alai on Facebook on Monday.

In an earlier post on Facebook, Alai had faulted the move by Sonko to come up with a team to deal with the rising muggings within Nairobi's CBD.

"Send a gang to catch a gang. We need to drop this gang mentality and use the formal uniformed formations which we have. Central Police / Kamukunji OCPDs should be asked why there is an increase in muggings in the CBD. No need for another Sonko Rescue Team to curb muggings," reiterated Alai.
