[The fake Facebook accounts are said to be run by suspected conmen. Duale has distanced himself from some facebook accounts that he says are fake] (telegraph.co.uk)Parliament Majority leader Aden Duale has sounded a warning over fake Facebook accounts soliciting money from the public under his name.
Duale said he currently does not run any activities that require direct public funding.
He said his official Facebook as well as Twitter accounts are verified and any other social media account(s) using the name ‘Aden Duale’ should be ignored.
“Kindly note that all my accounts are verified with a blue tick,” Duale posted on his official Facebook page.
“The public should ignore any other impostor account(s) trying to solicit money from the public. Be aware.”
Duale made the revelation close to a year after reporting a similar case where a false Facebook account opened under his official name solicited for money from the public to help fund development projects targeting youth in Garissa Township constituency.
The Garissa Township legislator is one among politicians who impostors have used their names to demand for money from the public.
In mid-2016, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko reported a case where suspected conmen opened a Facebook account in his name and posted a message telling Kenyans to send Sh3,500 to a particular telephone number in order to receive a motorcycle courtesy of the senator.
The suspects involved were, however, unlucky as they were tracked by security agencies and apprehended.
