Kianda noted that community leaders might be the ones responsible for the leakages that are jeopardizing the county security.

While addressing the press on Friday at the Garissa State Lodge, Kianda stated that rampant insecurity cases reported in the area are  partly the responsibility of local security officials who may be sharing sensitive information to terrorists unknowingly.

"Security in Garissa is becoming a challenge. Our community leaders play a bigger role in weeding out criminals within us and so, we should let them be aware that sensitive information given to them should not be allowed to leak to unauthorised persons," noted Kianda.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the official opening of a one day seminar of representatives under the 'Nyumba Kumi' initiative.

'Kianda said that the seminar organised and conducted by officials from the Interior Ministry was meant to highlight key issues on community policing especilly under the Nyumba Kumbi' programme.

Garissa county has in the recent past suffered from deadly terrorist attacks targetting police officers and unarmed civillians, the worst ever being the Garissa University College attack.
