A few months after formation of Albinos Society of Kisii County, through the support of Kisii County government, the society has extended their outreach to neighboring Nyamira County.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Thursday, chairperson of the society in Kisii Ms Valentine Bosibori said merging people with skin pigment disability from Gusii region was essential in a bid to inform the community about their rights.
She said the Kisii team reached out to their counterparts from Nyamira and explained to them need to form one force so that they could have a say internationally.
“As chairperson of Albinism Society in Kisii, I am very happy that our counterparts from Nyamira have joined us to form a big force that can not only have a say locally but also internationally,” said Bosibori, who is also an R&B musician.
“We have formed a formidable group that will traverse the entire Gusii region and sensitise the community on our rights. Many parents have been said to be devastated when they give birth to albinos,” she added.
She said the group will soon form a Sacco whose main objective will be educating people with skin pigment disability besides supporting their social welfare.
“Now that we are about 300 people from the Gusii region, we are considering forming a Sacco that will be mandated to handle our welfare,” she said.
She condemned the ongoing treatment of albinos in the neighboring Tanzania and challenged the society to change its perspective on the group.
