The County government of Uasin Gishu is contemplating on the possibility of shutting down all alcohol selling joints across the county on the eve of the elections day.

This is in what county governor Jackson Mandago says will ensure everyone is sober during the election day.Speaking when he met members of the Agikuyu community living in the county, Saturday, Mandago said closing down alcohol selling joints will also reduce cases of disorderly that might lead to interruption of peace and cause insecurity.

He also advised the youths in the county not to allow themselves to be misused by politicians to cause violence before, during or after the elections.

"We need peace during and after elections," Mandago said.

"Security team has put in place an elaborate plan that will ensure smooth voting process and peace thereafter," he added.

During the meeting at the Eldoret social hall, members of the Agikiyu community present pledged to support Mandago's reelection bid.
