A ward representative in Juja has issued a warning against peddlers who sell drugs to school-going children at the Witethei dumpsite.
Kiambu County assembly member Peter Muiruri said he had received complaints from parents over the worrying trend.
He added that he had consulted the area administration concerning the issue and they will soon form a taskforce to look into the matter.
“We are liaising with the police and the area administrator to bring order to the ward,” the ward representative said, adding, “Let us work together to end this problem.
“Some people are initiating our children into drug use and that is not something we can sit back and observe as parents.”
The concern comes just days after the site was named as one of the largest drug dens in the wider Juja region.
The MCA said police will arrest anyone caught idling at the site as a means to curb the crimes and drugs business in the area.
“I have clear information about those involved and plans are underway to bring to book anyone caught idling in the area,” he said.
He was accompanied by the local Nyumba Kumi officials, who vowed to conduct frequent raids in the whole ward.
