[Photo|Courtesy]Nandi Hills Member of Parliament (MP) Alfred Keter has warned that Jubilee lawmakers will not allow their opposition counterparts to intimidate the president. This is after the Opposition MPs vowed to snub the joint 12th parliament sitting address by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is also the Jubilee Party leader.Nasa's Senate Minority leader Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula said the President does not have power to convene or schedule the opening of a new Parliament. "This is as it should be under the doctrine of separation of powers and the independence and the exercise of the legislative authority. President Uhuru is therefore not entitled to address the opening of the newly elected Parliament," said Wetangula. However, Keter accused the NASA members of deliberately intimidating the president, yet they were aware that the Constitution directs the president to address the joint parliament sitting.Speaking at parliament buildings during an interview, shortly before the president arrived to address the House, the Jubilee lawmaker maintained that his fellow Jubilee MPs would continue running parliament operations, even if their Nasa counterparts fail to show up.
