Machakos Governor and the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr Alfred Mutua is in Embu County for a two day tour aimed at popularizing the party.
On Saturday, during the first day of his visit in the region, Mutua condemned the escalating political intolerance as the country nears general elections.
“I am urging the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to take action on politicians perpetuating the culture of intolerance through zoning,” Mutua said.
He said his side will conduct peaceful campaigns urging politicians to keep away from the zoning mentality as it was 'a recipe for chaos'.
The narrative currently places Jubilee and the newly formed NASA coalition on a scale of two horses, with the country seeing a segmentation of regions into Jubilee and NASA strongholds.
Early this week, the NASA brigade camped in Mt. Kenya East region in what was understood to be an attack on Jubilee zone.
In recent times, Mutua’s MCC has been seen as a soft landing for Jubilee defectors from Mt. Kenya region, with Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti opting to vie for the governor’s post on MCC party ticket.
In Meru, former Uhuru aide Kilemi Mwiria eyes to unseat Peter Munya (PNU), while Embu Deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi will vie for the county’s women representative seat on an MCC party ticket.
Capital Fm reports that Mutua opened MCC party’s office in Embu then addressed rallies in Embu, Manyatta, Kianjokoma, Kathangari and Runyenjes towns.
On Sunday, Mutua is expected to attend a Church service at the ACK Kanyuambora, which will be followed by a series of rallies in Ishiara, Siakago, Kiritiri and Gategi towns.
