The wiper party disciplinary committee has ruled to expel Machakos governor Alfred Mutua from the party.
Mutua was on Thursday expelled alongside other six MPs for backing ideologies from other parties.
Mutua, MPs Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Robert Mutemi (Nominated), Richard Makenga (Kaiti) and Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) were kicked out.
However, nominated MP Robert Mutemi was pardoned for lack of evidence.
According to the committee chairperson Lilian Omondi, the seven had publicly sided with other parties which Wiper had no association with and were therefore considered to have resigned.
Mutua was found guilty of supporting the Maendeleo Chap Chap party which he launched in September in what the committee regarded as a signal of resignation from Wiper.
“The DC (Disciplinary Committee) finds that his conduct expressly and constructively amounts to publicly advocating for the formation of another political party and promoting the interests, ideologies and policies of Maendeleo Chap Chap which is not a member of the Cord,” said the Committee’s report.
“The Disciplinary Committee recommends that the member be deemed to have resigned from WDMK in terms of section 14(5) of the Political Parties Act,” they argued.
